Love Birds

Been busy doing family tree research at the moment - finally made some headway with some of my lines that I was stuck on, and been getting a bit further along with Ian's family, a bit more of a challenge there cos his family is from wales and I've just started running into some of the common surnames which makes finding the right family a bit of a challenge to say the least lol.

Thought I'd share a card today as it's been a little while since I've had any to post. This was a Wedding acceptance card for some of our friends, I used the stamp from my Scrapagogo kit to paper piece the birds and heart. Then added the ribbon and gems to finish it off.

And a close up of the birds

Think I should have paid more attention in Art

Wow, been a long week lol (yep I'm saying that when am 2 days into a 3 day week (but I work in payroll and it's the busiest time of the month lol) Anyways this is just a quick post cos I've still got to pack my bag for the weekend and sort out the bits and pieces to get my auntie's card done while I'm at Ian's.

Anyways thought I'd try something new with today's card - a card with no stamped image!!! I know an idea popped into my head to do a support card with a bra on cos I love the saying that a bra is like a good friend...always offers support, makes you look great & is always close to your heart. I didn't have a bra stamp so knew I had to draw it myself, but drew it straight onto the patterned paper to give the paper piecing effect and then added a bit of glitter to the trim. Not bad since I don't think I've drawn anything since I left school lol.

But I'm in work all day tomorrow - why o why did I not book these three days off - then off over to Ian's so thought best get organised. Anyways I hope everyone had a lovely Easter and has a great long weekend... XOX

Alphabet Challenge Blog DT - P for Paper Piecing

Wow well I haven't got a clue where this week has gone, but yay it's nearly the weekend :)

And yes it's that time of the week, time for the new challenge over at Alphabet Challenge Blog this week is P for Paper Piecing!!! I was going to stamp an image and piece the image together but the night I was doing the card I couldn't get to my ink pad so I decided to go for making a whole image out of papers. This was something I used to do when I was little, I love the effects you can get and it's great for using up all those little scraps of paper. I used some shimmer chalks for the cloud and and the smoke from the chimney, and then added gems to all of the flowers on the paper I've used for the grass so there's plenty of sparkle there.

Supplies: Papers by October Afternoon, Bo Bunny, Making Memories, Chalk by Pebbles Inc, Rub-ons by Doodlebug
Extras: White Card, Gems

Right well I'm off to bed very soon (posting Thursday night) and still got to pack my bag for tomorrow, hope you like the card and take part in this week's challenge XOX

A Not Very Christmassy Christmas Card

This is my Dad's Christmas card, he doesn't 'do' Christmas at all really, so no point doing a traditional christmas card instead he normally gets either funny ones or ones with boats on, as he goes sailing. I did use christmas papers to piece together the scene and also added some snowflake stickers so it is a bit christmassy, the stickers have a bit of sparkle in them too and have added a gem in place of a flag at the top of the boat. Love making little scenes like this, they're so quick to do and can use up lots of scraps that would normally be stored for months and then eventually end up in the bin lol

Autumn Skies

Bit of a different card for me today, no stamped image!!!! (and that wasn't even the challenge lol!) the challenge was to make a card or project using autumn colours which I think I've covered here lol, I got to use some more of my favourite Vintage Carnival Papers and a sketch challenge from months ago that I never got round to doing at the time but I found it scribbled on a bit of paper when I was tidying earlier in the week and as soon as I saw it the card practically made itself. So easy to do, this the whole thing took about 15 mins start to finish (and that included trying to find one of the papers that had been mis-filed under Harvest Spice tut tut, think I need to have a sort through of the papers lol) Anyways I inked the edges of all the papers and the edges of the card with bronze ink so it has a bit of a shimmer and then added some buttons to the tree to finish it all off.

Papertake Weekly Challenge - Autumn Skies (Autumn Colours)

Hopefully this week I'm finally going to get round to decorating my mini wooden drawer units that I've had for several years and still haven't got round to decorating them, and I was looking at Pami's blog and the last couple of days and she has been making the most gorgeous gift boxes (here) and (here) and has even decorated a jar to keep all her flowers in, and I'm now itching to decorate them, not going for anything as fancy as Pam's but I'm sure it'll be an improvement on the bare wood lol

Right well I'm off to try and pick out some papers so I can make a start on decorating the drawers this week... wish me luck... XOX
