Alphabet Challenge Blog DT - Z for Zoo Animals

Yay another long weekend :) I definitely think we need more 4 day weekends lol. Anyways today is Friday and that means that it's time for another challenge over at Alphabet Challenge Blog, this week is Z for Zoo Animals. I had a bit of a panic on that one cos I haven't got that many stamps with zoo animals on - more dogs and cats and don't really think they'd count lol. So I decided on a scrapbook page, I was going to scrap some of the pictures from our trip to Chester Zoo last year but then I was flicking through one of my albums and came across this picture and I really wasn't happy with the layout so I decided to give it another go...

I'd been saving a piece of red dotty paper so I needed to make sure that I got the page right and this was one of my favourite pictures from the trip so lots of pressure lol. But really really pleased with how it's turned out, love the way the colours have turned out - bit different to my usual colour scheme. I now just need to do the other half of the double page (along with about another thousand Australia pictures lol)

Some journalling - one of my favourite techniques putting it on strips meaning that when I make mistakes I only wreck one little bit instead of having to start again from scratch :) And a close-up of the red dotty paper :) love it - really should find a red dotty background for my blog lol

Really like the aqua and red colour combo, love the flowers using the fabric petaloo flowers with the red paper prima one in the centre :)

Supplies: Paper, Card, Alpha Stickers all from January Scrapagogo Set (sorry can't find the list of what's in it and everything is piled ontop of the box now lol), Flowers by Petaloo and Prima, 'Dutch Girl' Paper by Cosmo Cricket, Brackets by Cosmo Cricket, Rub-ons by 7Gypsies
Extras: Gems, Black Ink Pad

Don't forget to head on over to the Challenge Blog and check out what the rest of the Design Team have been up to (I will add their links in the sidebar once I can work out how to fix something to do with Java lol) And sorry the pictures aren't so good - not got photo editing program back after reinstall XOX

Think I should have paid more attention in Art

Wow, been a long week lol (yep I'm saying that when am 2 days into a 3 day week (but I work in payroll and it's the busiest time of the month lol) Anyways this is just a quick post cos I've still got to pack my bag for the weekend and sort out the bits and pieces to get my auntie's card done while I'm at Ian's.

Anyways thought I'd try something new with today's card - a card with no stamped image!!! I know an idea popped into my head to do a support card with a bra on cos I love the saying that a bra is like a good friend...always offers support, makes you look great & is always close to your heart. I didn't have a bra stamp so knew I had to draw it myself, but drew it straight onto the patterned paper to give the paper piecing effect and then added a bit of glitter to the trim. Not bad since I don't think I've drawn anything since I left school lol.

Supplies: 'Quite Contrary' Papers by My Mind's Eye, Ribbon by Anna Griffin, Sugar-Coating by Doodlebug, Rub-ons by 7Gypsies
Extras: White Card, Pink Ink Pad, Fine Liner

I would like to enter this card in the following challenge...

Right I'm off to do a quick pre-post for my design team project for this week - really liked this one :) hehe. But I'm in work all day tomorrow - why o why did I not book these three days off - then off over to Ian's so thought best get organised. Anyways I hope everyone had a lovely Easter and has a great long weekend... XOX

PS sorry for the rubbish photos no photo editing programs on the computer after a reinstall x

Getting a Head Start

Hello, how nice have the last 2 weekends been!?! Makes such a nice change to have some good weather at the weekend instead of when I'm stuck in work lol. Missed most of last weekend in bed with a migraine but was out yesterday as my Dad was moving his boat down from up by widnes to Liverpool and he wanted us to take pictures. So we went up to take pictures of them going through the lock onto the river, then we headed to Riverside Drive and sat by the river and waited for them to come past, then went and met them at the marina. Was such a nice day for it.

Anyways got chance to get a couple of cards done today, so here is the first one (the second is my design team card for this week so you'll have to wait for Friday for that one lol) but it means that I've got a couple of the birthday cards for the next few weeks done (still a couple to get done - hopefully will have some time over the next few long weekends). Anyways this card is for my Mum's cousin who is going to be 40 in a few weeks lol. Kerry of Ladybug Crafts Ink had made a card using the numbers sitting on Magnum's hand and it gave me the idea of using them as balloons - I stamped the string and knot of the balloon stamp and then added the numbers and a few fineliner lines. His other hand looked a bit empty so I added the cake - after all what's a birthday without cake lol :)

Supplies: 'Add-on Magnum', 'Magnum Add-ons' & Sentimental Numbers Stamps by Ladybug Crafts Ink, Papers by Slice and Frances Meyer, Sugar-Coating by Doodlebug, Card by DCWV

Alphabet Challenge Blog DT - X for Xmas

Well the weather seems to be heading back to the winter so this weeks challenge over at Alphabet Design Blog is probably quite in keeping lol. This week's challenge is X for Xmas - so you've got a chance to make a headstart on your Christmas cards. Or like me you could try and catch up with scrapbooking some old Christmas pictures, but remember anything goes it doesn't just have to be cards and scrapbooking.

These photos are at Haworth Train station, in December 1996 and 1997 When we were little we used to go up with our neighbours and their friends for the Santa Special train ride on the steam train - all the kids used to get presents and the parents would get a mince pie. Then we'd walk up the street (it was the one used in a bread advert with the kid pushing the bike up the hill - think it might have been Hovis) and all the shop keepers would be dressed up in Victorian dress. Proper start to Christmas for us.

I used a sketch from the first Page Maps book (I've just bought the second book so have been flicking through that, can't wait to get some more photos out at the weekend and get going on some of the new sketches) anyways I think I've used the sketch a couple of times before but I love how the pages look so different. Instead of the adding journalling on the strips of paper I added the list of everyones names as there were so many lol, so will add the journalling to a second page

Supplies: 'Good Cheer' Papers by Cosmo Cricket, Scalloped Green Card by Papermania
Extras: Glitter, Alpha Stickers, Fineliner, Red Card, Red Ink Pad

Right I'm going to finish now cos I've got an episode of 'Better with You' to watch - really liking it, hope it keeps going, hate when they cancel shows when you just get into them lol. Don't forget to head on over to the challenge blog to check out what the rest of the design team have been up to XOX
PS thank you everyone my head is feeling much better, hate the way migraines like to hang around for days lol XOX

I'm so glad that by the time you read this it will be Friday - work has been a nightmare this week and so can't wait for the weekend but yay only one more full week in work and then the bank holidays commence :) and off out for a meal Friday night so got something nice to look forward to

And yes it's time for another challenge over at Alphabet Challenge Blog this week the challenge is a nice easy one - W for White (plus one other colour) I had a few baby cards to get made as my cousin has just become a Dad for the first time. A little girl (in case you hadn't gathered from all the pink) called Evie :) we went up to see her on Tuesday - she's soooo tiny and sweet :) and Anyway onto the card...

I had made a card a few weeks ago using squares of embossed card to make a patchwork effect. I decided to adapt this and leave gaps to show the white, and got to make use of my new square nesties - REALLY don't know how I survived without them - they make it soooooooo quick and easy :)

Finally a challenge card

Yay finally got some cards finished today so can enter some challenges - feels like it's been ages since I've done any. Fortunately there were lots of mother's day challenges and I've been busy making mother's day cards for mine and Ian's mums. This is for Ian's mum (the sentiment was his choice lol) and he coloured the image himself (apparently modelled on one of his t-shirts and trainers lol). I thought since there was nice bright colours on the image I would use these fab prima papers - I love the colours.

And some flowers made using some of the other papers from the collection and my new die that I bought the other day in Manchester and was a bit of a bargain :)

Supplies: 'Guilty Jack' Stamp by Ladybug Crafts Ink, 'Paisley Road' Papers by Prima Marketing, Rub-ons by Doodlebug, Sugar-Coating by Doodlebug, Flower Die by Craft Planet

Alphabet Challenge Blog DT - V for Vehicles

Ooops I've been naughty and was away last night and forgot to pre-post my design team work for this week. So sorry that it's late but hey better late than never. This week's challenge at Alphabet Challenge Blog is V for Vehicles, I didn't have any cards to get made (or so I thought at the beginning of the week and then suddenly found lots that needed doing) so I decided to use the chance to get another page of my Australia album finished.

I had bought a scrapagogo kit in January, and it had been sitting there patiently waiting to be used lol. I love the colours and different sort of style to my usual choice of papers. Can't wait to use the rest of the papers and embellishments. The kit also came with some wood veneer stars, these didn't really go so I got my promarkers out and coloured them in - so could match them to the colour scheme and because of the wood finish they have a bit of a shimmer to them.

Supplies: Papers, Card, Ribbon and Stars from January Scrapagogo Kit, License Plates by Karen Foster, Thickers by American Crafts
Extras: Red Ink Pad, Mini Brads

Right tea time and then off to start on the million cards I need to get done this weekend lol, don't forget to head on over to the Challenge Blog to see what the rest of the design team have been up to XOX
