Favourite Five Cards of 2010

Just a little post to say Happy New Year to everyone, and to thank you for all the visits and lovely comments you have made during the year.

I've got a couple of cards to post but I think I'll leave them till the weekend when I have a bit of spare time so for now Debby has now got a post to link your Favourite Five Cards of the Year 2010, now this was tough (mainly cos I couldn't find the pictures of 3 cards I wanted to put on so here are 5 from my top 8 lol.

Card one had to be there cos of the red and white dotty paper lol, and this is one of my favourite images.

I love how this card turned out, this photo doesn't really show it up but the frogs are covered in glossy accents so they look all slimey, love how the paper reminds me of pond weed too so it all fits

A not-a-square card (have to say these were few and far between lol), but really like how this turned out.

This is one of my favourite stamps, I love Buttercup, she's sooooooo cute. This was made for Kerry (who's why I started blogging) who lent me a stamp, I think this was only my second attempt at a gate-fold card too, and I love that paper.

This one had to go on, I love how it turned out even though it's quite busy compared to my usual style lol, I love the papersm the buttons, the flowers and the sentiment. Really must try and make some more 'busier' cards next year rather than my usual keep it simple style lol.

So they're my favourites (sort of - ask me again later today and I'd probably pick a completely different 5 lol). So I'm going to post this now quick before I change my mind lol

Right off to get in the shower and get my stuff sorted to head back home later this afternoon

Happy New Year Everyone XOX

Been busy tonight, made Ian's mum's birthday card, another couple of birthday cards and a wedding card - woop how productive is that!!! AND I got to use 2 of my brand new stamps AND AND I got to use my brand new Cuttlebug too will post the results in the next few days, it's sooooo cool, made up with it (THANK YOU IAN!!! <3 ) I've already ordered a couple of nesties so cannot wait for them to arrive along with the rest of the stuff I've ordered (dam the internet making shopping too easy - my poor credit card is worn out lol).

Favourite Five

I'd seen on Lisa and Kerry's blogs to pick your Favourite Five Christmas Cards and put a link on Debby's Blog so here are mine...

This is my first card, I love the blues and I love the way the snowman has come out on the Kraft CS - will definitely be trying that again

My second card is this, I love it, the image, the papers and the gems just all work together so well

My 3rd card is my brother's christmas card, I really like the way it came out, especially using the border on the paper as part of the design well with a few gems added...

This one had to go in, love the red and blue combo but it had to go in just on the image (from bugaboo) I love it definitely one of my favourites

And this is my 5th and favourite card, this was Ian's Christmas Card (I haven't posted this one yet it will be coming soon) I love the really cute image and the little metal embellishments

Right I'd best move, had a lovely Christmas was spoilt rotten - and I'm now the proud owner of a Cuttlebug (yay) and some embossing folders - can't wait to have a go with it, and then been to the sales this morning (was actually quite quiet :) plus had already ordered a few bits and pieces off the internet) so I've just put everything away and sat down now with some choccies in my new pj's under my new blanket to watch some telly, well need to get tea now really, but looking forward to an early night. Hope you've all have a fab Christmas XOX

Polka Dots

This is the last post I promise, lol, I'm down at Ian's in Wales until Christmas Eve then we're heading back to mine weather permitting (yes for possibly the first time ever I'm keeping my fingers crossed for no more snow lol). Ended up going to the shops this morning while Ian was in work - oops lol, accidently bought a pair of shoes, a smart fleece top, and a couple of cooking books. In fairness need the shoes as my work shoes died a few years ago and haven't found any to replace them till now - eek can't wait til wear them (I know I'm sad lol) and the top was one of those that you have to buy cos you know full well you'll kick yourself if you don't.

Anyways onto the card, btw how cool does it look with my new dotty quilt cover as the background. I made this a gate-fold (but the open picture won't upload) the dotty paper is tissue paper from paperchase. I kept this really simple with just the bow for decoration.

Supplies: 'Cupcake Cutie - Wagon Full of CupCakes' Stamp by Ladybug Crafts Ink, Red Dotty Tissue Paper by Paperchase, Sugar-Coating by Doodlebug
Extras: White Card, Red Ink Pad, Ribbon from Stash, Glossy Accents, Promarkers, Copics

ABC Challenge - Keep It Simple

Right thanks for bearing with me, this is the last post I promise lol. I probably won't be back on here til after Christmas so I just want to say a big thank you to everyone who has become a follower, left me a lovely comment or just dropped by (I can't believe I've just gone past 6000 visiters - woop) it's much appreciated. And lastly I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and a fabulous New Year XOX

I don't repeat gossip, so listen closely....

Me again, posting while I've got a bit of spare time. I managed to get 3 cards done yesterday - was on a bit of a roll - possibly from knowing that I didn't need to do any more Christmas Cards woop woop, and how organised am I ?!? these are birthday cards ready for January!! (Don't worry I'm not that organised I've still got a December birthday card left to do lol).

Anyways not really sure about this card, love the stamp and love the papers but there's something not sitting right. Think maybe it might need pink ribbon instead, I don't know it could just be cos there's so many colours and most of my cards recently have been limited to 2 or 3 colours. Oh well. But how cool is the paper (the loopy design is the reverse of the phone design) they go so so so well with the image, and the sentiment stamp works so well too.

Supplies: 'Chatty Nikki' Stamp by Ladybug Crafts Ink, Sentiment Stamp by Elzybells, 'Alphabet Soup' Papers by My Mind's Eye, Ribbon by Doodlebug, Card by DCWV, Flowers by Petaloo, Sugar-Coating by Doodlebug
Extras: White Card, Pink Ink Pad, Promarkers, Copics

Crazy For You

Just a quick post cos I'll be back in a few minutes with another, thought I'd post them while I've got chance and Ian is busy playing on the computer, I'll save the waffle till later though and go straight onto the card.

The Ladybug Crafts Ink Challenge this week was to make a card based on a SONG TITLE - talk about a challenge and a bit of panicking. Fortunately one of my favourite films came to my aid - 13 Going on 30, there were two songs I could have picked from the sound track but I chose 'Crazy For You' by Madonna (I'll keep the other a secret in case I get chance to make the second card during the holidays) this is an engagement card for a friend. I used Sketch on the Sweetest thing and I finally got to use the fab ribbon I got from the market in Manchester months ago.

Bit of bling on her hand lol

And a close up of the flower and the ribbon, love it, the sequins are really shiny in real life - might have to see if I can get hold of any more of it, and the epoxy dot makes a great flower centre.

Supplies: 'Nikki & Ben Young Love' Stamp by Ladybug Crafts Ink, Double Dot Card by Bo Bunny, Flowers by Petaloo, Epoxy Dot by Ladybug Crafts Ink, Sugar-Coating by Doodlebug
Extras: White Card, Purple Ink Pad, Paper from Stash, Ribbon from Stash, Copics, Promarkers, Gem

Snow Day

Wow well we finally got some snow, we looked out the window on Friday night and it was snowing and then spent the whole of friday evening checking, took forever to get to sleep as just wanted it to be morning so I could go out and play lol. Also my brother had got the home from the Isle of Man and was stuck for nearly the whole night on the M6, so I was half listening out for him getting back to give him a hand bringing his stuff in, he eventually arrived at half 6 (think I'd managed about 2 hours sleep by then lol) and by half 8 I was trying to convince everyone to come and help build a snowman - don't think I was very popular lol, but in fairness we haven't had this much snow in about 15 years - but think the result was worth it even if I do say so myself. And the snow is all still there :) I know everyone is complaining about it and no doubt when I have to go out in it I will too but for now it looks soooooooo pretty and I got to make a snowman :)

Anyways onto the second card, this has to be my favourite Bugaboo Stamp I have and I got it as a freebie!!! Woop!!! He's just sooooooooo cute. I still don't really use digi stamps much but when I do I love that you can re-size them. And some more of my favourite October Afternoon papers :) forgot to put a piece of ribbon across the card, doh oh well I think that the image is cute enough that no one will notice lol.

And a close-up to try and show the glitter

Supplies: 'Eggbert Winter' Digi Stamp by Bugaboo, 'Good Cheer' Papers by October Afternoon, Card by Doodlebug & DCWV, Sugar-Coating by Doodlebug

Pink Paper Paradise - Make It Monday

And before I go, I just thought I'd share my 'snowman' picture. As Ian said snowmen are sooooo last year lol, so here is my snowduck!!! he's modelled on my cuddly duck (he's filled with wheat so he's like a cross between a bean bag and a hot water bottle lol), I don't think we did too bad at all really and 3 days on he's still standing - though that is probably down to the fact that I don't think it's gone above 0 degrees lol.

Right I'm off to bed now, looking forward to a lie in and a lazy day tomorrow - well that's the plan anyway lol no doubt things will come up and suppose could get some tidying done or maybe make a start on January's cards instead (that's a tough choice lol) XOX

Very Nearly Almost Done

Just a quick post cos I'll be back in a few minutes with another post. This is my mum's Christmas card off me and Ian (she's been told not to come on here till after Christmas lol) I used almost the same layout as the last time I used this stamp (yay I kept the scallop template this time which speeded up things considerably), how cute is the reindeer's expression. I bought this ribbon in Rennie's a few weeks ago, how cute is it?!? I knew I wanted to use it with this stamp. I love this card, the papers are some of my favourites too - love October Afternoon papers

And a close up of the image

Supplies: 'Tracey and Reindeer' Stamp by Ladybug Crafts Ink, 'Good Cheer' Papers by October Afternoon, Card by Doodlebug, Sugar-Coating by Doodlebug

Anything But A Card

Thought a break was needed from the Christmas cards - do still have a couple more to post looking forward to making some other cards in the new year lol, but must make a mental note to stock up on christmas papers have struggled a bit this year - which is why most of them have come from the same pad.

Another swirly-faced one I'm afraid, this is another christmas present for one of my friends. Think that was the last of the mini canvases to get made - really pleased with them - they're just soooooooooooooo cute, even if they are a bit fiddly to put together lol. This one was painted cream, I then added a piece of some chocolate-coloured ribbon and some gems followed by a felt flower with another gem to finish it off

Supplies: Gem by Doodlebug, Ribbon by KI Memories
Extras: Cream Acrylic Paint, Felt Flower, Little Gems

Those paper again

I'm sure you'll all be pleased to hear this (should) be the last card with these papers (for this year atleast lol). Anyways another quick post as I need to get stuff sorted for tomorrow - cannot believe where the time has gone only really got about 2 days to actually get stuff done lol EEEEEEK

So anyways this is for my mum (she's under instructions not to come on here until Christmas lol) from my dad (still got to take him shopping - wish me luck). I'm made up wth the ribbon, I've had it ages and it's a perfect match for these papers - wish I'd spotted it sooner now lol and the little felt flower is cut from a felt border. I think the snowman looks even cuter than usual coloured in pink and lilac awww so sweet.

Supplies: 'Sweet Swowman' Stamp by Penny Black, 'Winter Wonderland' Papers by Crafts House, Felt Flower by Queen & Co, Sugar-Coating by Doodlebug
Extras: Ribbon from Stash, Pink Ink Pad, White Card, Promarkers, Copics

A Not Very Christmassy Christmas Card

This is my Dad's Christmas card, he doesn't 'do' Christmas at all really, so no point doing a traditional christmas card instead he normally gets either funny ones or ones with boats on, as he goes sailing. I did use christmas papers to piece together the scene and also added some snowflake stickers so it is a bit christmassy, the stickers have a bit of sparkle in them too and have added a gem in place of a flag at the top of the boat. Love making little scenes like this, they're so quick to do and can use up lots of scraps that would normally be stored for months and then eventually end up in the bin lol

Extras: Turquoise Ink Pad, White Card, Gem, Snowflake Stickers

Sleep Time

Just a really quick post cos I'm shattered but know I'll forget if I don't post this now as I've got lots to do tomorrow. Anyways fingers and toes crossed that this doesn't get spotted by the wrong person (meant to swirl the sentiment out and completely forgot (having one of those days). Oh well, hope he likes it.

I've had this stamp a little while and not gotten round to using it (been doing quite well on using stamps that haven't been inked, also using old stash - this paper was bought in last years sale at Bee Crafty!) The snowflakes are part of the design on the paper and I've added the gems to give it a bit of sparkle (well and a smidge of glitter too lol). I love this stamp, Magnum looks like he's pleased with himself and his plan lol but as ever Lily is a step or two ahead lol.

Birthday Nikki

And it's me again, I promise this is the last post today I just wanted to make sure everything was on before dealines and tomorrow is hopefully going to involve a lie in (I've not slept the last couple of nights so a lie-in is much needed) then putting up the decorations and then off to my cousin's boyfriend's 21st birthday party - I know how inconsiderate where they?!? they really should have planned it around strictly and xfactor lol ah well fingers crossed they both record ok and must remember not to look at Facebook lol.

Anyways onto the card, this is for another of my cousin's birthdays next week, scary how quick time goes lol I can remember her doing our make-up for us when she was about 5 (will have to see if I can dig out the picture - think clowns lol). So anyways the challenge from the Ladybugs was to use pearls, I've used a row of them along the bottom of one of the papers, I have to say they're not my favourite embellishment to use - they just can't compete with the sparkley gems lol but I think they work there, just finishing the card off nicely I think sparkle would have been a bit much with all the glitter and glossy accents, and yay finally got to use my 'Birthday Nikki' Stamp.

Supplies: 'Birthday Nikki' & Sentimental Numbers Stamps by Ladybug Crafts Ink, Papers by My Mind's Eye, Sugar-Coating by Doodlebug

The stripes are made from ribbon, just stuck onto the card.

Back in my comfort zone

Wow how cold is it this morning, sorry to the people who've had masses of it and have been snowed in but would much rather have snow than ice, the pavements were horrible yesterday. But my Dad has been out in the garden taking pictures (see below the card) and I have to say looking at them inside in the warm they do look pretty lol.

Yay back in the pink, and rather a lot of pink for this one lol. I found this gingham paper yesterday while I was looking for something else and it instantly reminded me of pyjamas (not entirely sure cos I don't think I've ever had gingham pjs in my life but never mind) am glad it did, I'd stamped and coloured this Robyn image up pretty much as soon as it was out of the envelope, then realised I didn't know what I was going to do with it. So when I found the gingham paper it all sort of came together. The sketch was from The Spotted Chick (yay love sketches make the cards so much quicker lol) and I inked the edges of all the paper and card to make it stand out a bit more.

And a close-up, the flock looks a bit of a mess on the picture but looks much better in real-life lol. And just realised I've forgotten to add a gem as Robyn's PJ button - off to fix that now lol...

Best get a move on...

Had a very busy day the last couple of days doing nothing lol all I seem to have done is make lists - think it's going to be one of those like were you spend all your time making a revision plan and don't leave any time to actually revise. Also have suddenly realised how many cards I've got to make (silly number of December Birthdays on top of Christmas Cards) eek best get a move on.

Anyways managed to get a couple of cards done today, yay, this is a birthday card for our nextdoor neighbour's birthday.

I have followed the sketch from Papertake Weekly, I've used some brand-new stash (the card was only bought last week and I've had the stamp about a month but this is the first time that I've used it) and some VERY old stash (the paper was in a stack that I bought when doing my very first scrapbook album in about 2003!!!) and I've kept it very purple - just abit of green for the grass lol

Aww bless, how cute does Buttercup look peeking out of her lavender kennel lol

Supplies: 'In the Doghouse' and Sentiment Stamps by Ladybug Crafts Ink, Card by Coor'dinations, Glitter by Doodlebug

Sunny Christmas

It really is one of those days, I've only just realised when I looked at the photo that I've written the wrong year on it doh - should be December 2007 - looks like I'll be doing some repair work on it tomorrow lol. This is another page for my Australia Album still thousands of photos to get done - I think it's one of those if I actually sat down and did them would get through but keep putting it off cos one page and a couple of photos at a time doesn't seem to get me anywhere lol.

Anyways this is the layout, my other christmas pages for that year have focused on the sun and summer theme, but this one I wanted to use some more traditional papers, these from sassafras lass were just soooooooo cute and the colours worked well with the photo (all the Aussies I spoke to didn't like the tree at all but I thought it was really pretty, it was made up of loads and loads of stars that were slightly pearly - so different to what we have at home, but given the temperature difference am sure this one that didn't need watering was a much more practical option lol), I used a matching journalling card and cut an extra reindeer out of the papers and added a little gem to his nose to finish off the layout.

Supplies: Papers by Sassafras Lass (know one of them is Life At The Pole - Reindeer Kisses, but can't remember what the rest are), Journalling Card by Sassafras Lass, Card by DCWV & Doodlebug
Extras: Black Ink Pad, Red Gem

Paper Cutz Challenge 69 - Anything Goes

Right am off to get some dinner then see how much tidying I can get done before I need to go out (fingers crossed lots so I don't have to do it tomorrow lol) XOX

In one of those moods

Yep am in one of those moods, haven't really managed to get anything done as I've been calling agencies back - argh getting very frustrated keep getting told that I have a very strong CV but there's so few jobs out there have barely had any interviews, really hope things pick up after Christmas cos meant to be saving ready for a house, well a holiday and then a house lol. Room still needs cleaning and tidying so can make a start on the decorations too and got to get showered and get dinner and get ready to go out - keeping fingers crossed the roads to Ian's are clear.

Anyways I'll stop myself there lol, another card I made the other day, for my cousin's boyfriend, bit boring - football/men's card lol - so I couldn't resist adding a bit of glitter to the numbers and some glossy accents to the football.

Supplies: Stamp by Papermania, Numbers Stamps by Ladybug Crafts Ink, Papers by Say it with a Smirk, Card by DCWV, Sugar Coating by Doodlebug
Extras: White Card, Blue Ink Pad, Promarkers, Copics, Glossy Accents

Christmas Pressies

Been getting a few more bits of Christmas shopping today, managed to get hold of the mini canvases and easels so I can get the rest of the Christmas presents made, and found a red and white polka dot quilt cover set :) can't wait to put it on the bed lol

Hoping that I'm safe putting this on here (slight amendment - Ian just said why don't you pixilate the photo - lol doh why didn't I think of that lol) - this is one of the Christmas presents I've been making this week, it's another mini canvas (the canvas is just 7cm x 7cm)!!!

I've kept this nice and simple, mainly due to the tiny size lol, a bit of ribbon across the bottom, I've then stuck the patterned paper onto a chipboard heart and then covered it with glossy accents to make a fab shiny little embellishment. All I've got to do now is find some boxes the right size to fit the canvas and easels lol - wish me luck.

Supplies: 'Forever Friends' Papers, Chipboard Heart by Heidi Grace
Extras: Canvas, White Acrylic Paint, Ribbon from Stash, Gems, Glossy Accents

I would like to enter this in the following challenge...

Off to tidy up now ready to have a quick clean tomorrow ready for the decorations (when I find them all lol)... XOX
