Finally Back Crafting

Been a busy few weeks, then been poorly with a bug and then a cold - but all better now :) and have finally managed to get some scrapbooking done and have uploaded the pictures of my Nanna and Grandad's canvas - I made for their Diamond Wedding Anniversary as they didn't have a family picture on the wall. So here is the canvas.

I started painting the canvas cream, then free-handed the branches using brown paint - I mixed a bit of pearl paint in to give it a bit more texture and painted it quite thick. I then used my die to make lots of rolled flowers and cut some leaves by hand

Supplies: 'Rolled Flower' Die-namics Die, Papers from Stash, Cream Acrylic Paint, Brown Acrylic Paint, Pearl Acrylic Paint, Gems, Corner Punch

New Year... New Stash...

Hello, I'm back - doing better this month already than in the last few months - having a craft day today to make up for not having done an awful lot lately (lots of planning and hardly any cutting and sticking lol).

Anyways a change from the cards... Ladybug Crafts Ink's Challenge this week is to Use your new Stash - I thought I was going to have to cheat and use the new old stuff that I found when I had a little tidy up but then I found a bag of stuff that I bought just before Christmas and hadn't even unpacked - naughty I know! So I had some new colours of my favourite pearly paints and some more mini canvases... here is what I came up with...

A set of 3 mini canvases for my wall, they are actually purple, lilac and a very very very pale lilac but the 2 lighter ones look very similar on the pictures, I then decorated them using Purple, Lilac, Clear and Aurora Gems :)

Trying to show the sparkle

I drew the heart by hand (wishing I'd done it last so could have made it the same size as the others but never mind)

I used a stencil for the flower and butterfly to save time otherwise I would probably still be drafting the shapes now....

Supplies: Mini Canvases (these are just over 2 inch Square), Purple Acrylic Paint, Pearly Lilac Acrylic Paint, Pearly Pearl Acrylic Paint, Lots of Gems & Stencils (the butterfly and flower - I think were making memories, the heart I drew by hand)

I would like to enter these in the following challenge...

Ladybug Crafts Ink Challenge 51 - Use your New Stash (Paints and Canvases)

Hope you like them, off to get a similar canvas done now - trying to decide if should keep the set of 3 or the bigger canvas and the other will be a present... decisions... decisions...

Top 5 Scrapbook Pages of 2011

And now for my favourite 5 Scrapbook Pages of last year....

I love this page, I used the same layout as for the card in the last post - this time featuring my valentines flowers from this year :) I love the clean colourful layout

Canvas this time - love been able to get my scrapbooking up on the wall and on show - very messy layout with lots of paint :)

Another of my favourites - one of my favourite photos and some fab red dotty paper - love the way the colours work with the kraft coloured card

Some nice bright colours this time - taken from the colours on the postcard and accented with wooden stars and mini license plates

And finally a nice Christmas layout with photos from when we were little and used to go on the Santa Special in Haworth - love the colours of the October Afternoon paper and the sketch used.

Right on to plan some more pages to get a kickstart on this year's scrapbooking so can have more to choose from at the end of 2012 XOX

And at Long-last a post :)

Wow I can't believe it's been so long, computer problems, then when the computer had had a reinstall it seemed to have taken a dislike to blogger and wouldn't let me do anything, hopefully this is now finally sorted (the photos are on the draft so fingers crossed), then had a mad busy month and a bit in work. Work has finished so I'm back to job hunting but hopefully I'll have time to get some cards and scrapping done too, but I'm also trying to teach myself double entry bookkeeping :S not got my head quite round the basics yet but i'm finding it interesting (yep I'm that sad lol), and trying to get a list together of everything we're going to need for our first house so I can get as much together before we move and have no money lol. I think that's all I'm up to at the moment lol.

Anyways I've got a few cards and things to post that I've done the last few weeks so I'll be posting them as and when I can, first up is my entry in the Ladybug Crafts Ink July Challenge, which Kerry kindly posted on the site for me. This was Kate's 30th Card, she is a marine biologist (I think lol) unfortunately I didn't have any dolphin stamps and couldn't find any that I liked but then I remembered Mermaid Nikki by Ladybug Crafts Ink. She was pertfect and fitted into the marine theme that I wanted.

I coloured Nikki and the numbers up with my promarkers and copics, added about a ton of glitter (doodlebug sugar-coating) then added 2 layers of glossy accents (the first layer still looked really bumpy cos of the glitter). The seaweed was cut out from coordinates card and then decorated with glitter and glossy accents, based on a scrapbook page I made years ago :)

I also decided to make a canvas to go with the card, but didn't have a picture to go in it so decided to make a picture frame instead. I added a little drawing to fill in the gap where the photo will go so it looked a bit better when I sent it. I painted the canvas with acrylic paint (I had a bit of a mix up with the paint and added a load of pearly pain by mistake, but it added a nice pearly sheen to the canvas - I painted it in wavy lines so in reallife there's a wavy pattern on it). I added more seaweed to match the card.

I added glitter and glossy accents to the seaweed and added more glossy accents and gems to the canvas. I also stamped an extra couple of fish from the mermaid stamp and cut them out to add to the canvas. I added another fish to the seaweed.

Supplies: 'Mermaid Nikki' and Sentimental Numbers Stamps by Ladybug Crafts Ink, Coordinates Card, Glossy Accents, Doodlebug Sugar-Coating, Gems, Glimmer mist, Acrylic Paints

Right I think that's enough waffle for me - don't want to over-do it on my first day back lol XOX

Alphabet Challenge Blog DT - Q for Quotes

Yay I finally got round to making something other than a card for my DT project yay

This week's challenge at Alphabet Challenge Blog is Q for Quotes I knew straight away that I wanted to use my 'Friendly Advice' Stamps - I love this quote - that comes from Ian Hobson Age 5 lol. And this is definitely right about Ian lol and I got to make a canvas using one of my favourite pictures.

I started by painting the canvas pale pink (because the plan was that the canvas was going to be in pinks but then I found my sequin ribbon and changed the colour scheme). I then decided to make a mess by using a toothbrush to flick paint over the canvas (and my quilt, blanket, towel, face (yes I flicked the toothbrush the wrong way lol)) and love the effect. I added the ribbons, made the snowflake, added the wording and a little photo corner to add a bit of shine.

No wonder I've been wondering where all the time has gone this week, I even 'made' my own little embellishment for the canvas. Painted a chipboard snowflake, then once that was dry I went through about 5 different glues trying to find one that would stick the gems to the paint, in the end I gave up and used my glossy accents

I had a bit of a disaster with the stamp as the white ink wouldn't show up on the purple card, and the paint marker wouldn't write over the ink lol, eventually switching the inks I managed to get some of the words to stamp ok so I could go over them with the paint marker and the rest I just had to write in the same style, but I think this works really well and meant that I could cut out the individual words and spread them down the side of the canvas rather than having to be a big block which I didn't think would work with this canvas.

Supplies: 'Friendly Advice' Stamps by Inkadinkado, Photo Corner by (I think) Papermania
Extras: Chipboard Snowflake, White, Pink & Purple Acrylic Paint, White Paint Marker, White Ink Pad, Purple Card, Ribbon from Stash, Sequin Ribbon from Stash, Gems, Glossy Accents

Sorry for all the waffle lol. Hope you join us this week and have fun with the challenge XOX

Anything But A Card

Thought a break was needed from the Christmas cards - do still have a couple more to post looking forward to making some other cards in the new year lol, but must make a mental note to stock up on christmas papers have struggled a bit this year - which is why most of them have come from the same pad.

Another swirly-faced one I'm afraid, this is another christmas present for one of my friends. Think that was the last of the mini canvases to get made - really pleased with them - they're just soooooooooooooo cute, even if they are a bit fiddly to put together lol. This one was painted cream, I then added a piece of some chocolate-coloured ribbon and some gems followed by a felt flower with another gem to finish it off

Supplies: Gem by Doodlebug, Ribbon by KI Memories
Extras: Cream Acrylic Paint, Felt Flower, Little Gems

Christmas Pressies

Been getting a few more bits of Christmas shopping today, managed to get hold of the mini canvases and easels so I can get the rest of the Christmas presents made, and found a red and white polka dot quilt cover set :) can't wait to put it on the bed lol

Hoping that I'm safe putting this on here (slight amendment - Ian just said why don't you pixilate the photo - lol doh why didn't I think of that lol) - this is one of the Christmas presents I've been making this week, it's another mini canvas (the canvas is just 7cm x 7cm)!!!

I've kept this nice and simple, mainly due to the tiny size lol, a bit of ribbon across the bottom, I've then stuck the patterned paper onto a chipboard heart and then covered it with glossy accents to make a fab shiny little embellishment. All I've got to do now is find some boxes the right size to fit the canvas and easels lol - wish me luck.

Supplies: 'Forever Friends' Papers, Chipboard Heart by Heidi Grace
Extras: Canvas, White Acrylic Paint, Ribbon from Stash, Gems, Glossy Accents

Off to tidy up now ready to have a quick clean tomorrow ready for the decorations (when I find them all lol)... XOX

Teeny Weeny Tiny Scrapbook Canvas

How cute and sweet is this?!? I'd bought these mini canvases over a year ago I got 4 of them and they even came on their own little easels. Cos they're so small I'd not been able to think what to do with them so they'd sat in the drawer for ages. I found some index prints and thought I would try and make a mini scrapbook page and this is what I came up with...

I had to put this one on to show the size of the canvas, it's just 7x7cm and the photos across the bottom are 1.5x1cm!!!

Supplies: 'Smitten Hearts' Pillow Stickers by K & Company
Extras: Pink Acrylic Paint, Ribbons from Stash

Finally finished (sort of)

Finally finally got round to doing the canvas that I started at the beginning of June, I'm still not 100% happy with it - I think it needs a darker card behind the cream to frame it a little bit better, but not sure what colour/type??? Help!!! lol.

I stuck the lace cardstock down on the painted canvas using repositionable adhesive, I thought that seemed the safest option given how tight the space was. I think it looks OK for a start lol.

Supplies: Lace Cardstock by KI Memories, Raffia by Papermania, Ribbon Charm by ATT, Beaded Felt Charm by Prima.
Extras: Cream Acrylic Paint, Cream Cardstock, Green Ink Pad & Gems

Anyways this'll just be a quick post because I want to get some more cards done, and I've found some more challenges that I'd like to try and see if I can get done, along with about 3 million other things that need doing lol XOX

Canvas

Just a really quick post again cos off up to visit my Nanna and Grandad and then probably getting pizza on the way back (dam Dominos dropping leaflets off reminding me that they're buy one get one free).

Anyways I don't think I've got anymore card photos on my computer (really must find my camera) so thought would share another scrapbook 'page' with you. I got a bit fed up of my pages been shut away in an album and managed to find some blank canvases and had one of those lightbulb moments, and add a splash of paint, ribbons and sparkle and well here's the result...

Supplies: Blank Canvas, Acrylic Paints (I sprinkled some glitter onto the heart while the paint was still wet so it's all lovely and sparkly), Ribbons, Gems, Flowers and Charms

I'm currently working on a new canvas to replace this one (very limited wall space at the moment - really really need a house) not quite come together yet - can't quite settle on what I want but I'll post the result once I do...
